Meet the Double

Matthew Taylor- I'm currently a freshman in college at Normandale Community College. I am hoping to transfer to the Carlson School of Management to study marketing and work for the Minnesota Twins. Along with being a college student I am the biggest sports fan you will ever meet. If I'm not watching a game I'm watching SportsCenter and watching the highlights of that games. I am a die-hard Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Wild, Minnesota Timberwolves, Minnesota Twins, and Oklahoma Sooners fan. My emotions ride on the success or failure of each team, and each of them are a big part of my life. Of all sports baseball is my definitely my favorite. I love the tradition, the atmosphere, and the storylines that come from the game. My favorite baseball player is Joe Mauer. A great guy, a Minnesotan, and he has arguably the sweetest swing of all time. Simply a stand-up guy.

Joey Almars- I have quite a few favorite players including, Pedroia, Tulo, Brandon Phillips, Justin Upton, and Joe Mauer. But my favorite would have to be Josh Hamilton. Just the stuff he has gone through in his life and to be able to play at his level if unbelievable.
My favorite sports moment would be the 2004 ALCS when Boston came back when they were down 3-0. That whole series was unreal and I’m glad I remember watching it. My favorite moment that was present for was game 163 with Detroit (vs) Minnesota. Thanks to Matt Taylor who was on hold for 5 hours to get those tickets. That game was amazing but what made it even cooler was what happened earlier in the day. At school we were playing football in the parking lot and I was chasing the ball and completely drilled my teacher’s fender and left a hip size dent on the front. That was crappy start to the day because I knew I had to pay a lot of money but after the victory of game 163, the car was the last thing on my mind. To me that is the coolest thing about sports, they can take your mind off your troubles if only for a moment and let you enjoy life in the present without worrying about the future.
